June 26, Hilsborough, CA: Ahh, Friday. Except that among all the stuff I WANT to do this weekend, some work has to happen. Its a slippery slope to workaholism and even easier for me to become mentally preoccupied by work. I was supposed to do a fundraiser shoot tonight for a political candidate, except that when I arrived, another photographer was there. That's the bad news. The good news is that the photographer was a professional whom I knew and had been in contact with last year. Actually, that's the great news. AND he is one of Canon's Explorers of Light ( http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=ArtistsListAct). In fact, I had intended to email him last week.
My Michael Jackson marathon continues. Thriller came out when I was 8, and early in 1983 a Baltimore radio station played a full day of Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5, and The Jacksons songs. My dad taped as much of it as he could. When I left for college 9 years later, I took one of the tapes with me. I didn't ask first. I still have it and love it because of some of its lesser known songs. When I went to college, I met my best friend and a lot of the time we spent studying had that tape in the background. That tape had Brenda Russell on the other side...no slacker, either. Anyway, my friend mentioned those hours with engineering texts and the Jacksons in the voicemail he left last night. One of my favorite songs from that tape is Push Me Away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1vX4zB6k5w
