January 17, Baltimore, MD: Today was like a parade of some of the earliest influences in my life. Spending time with my grandparents was the highlight, but I also woke up at mom's, was surprised to see dad, Nicole, and Joshua, and visited my childhood babysitter and her family. I think today was the first time I had ever been alone with my grandparents , and we had such a wonderful time talking. I feel so thankful to be able to begin appreciating how loving and wise they are. Distance (physical, emotional) has made it very easy to make assumptions about how they must be thinking of me...and maybe that's a two-way street. But, they appreciated the visit as much as I did and were not shy about saying so. What a great day.
