November 4, Los Altos, CA: Blown away and emotionally exhausted. Likely the most historically significant day of my life. I was alone when I heard. Probably wanted it that way to isolate myself in the event of (massive) disappointment. Or did I know that I would break down if he won? I couldn't stop crying. Mom and dad are ecstatic. Growing up, they never thought today would come, and I had adopted the identical mindset. I've never seen images of thousands of Black people waving American flags in joy. Nations around the world are celebrating America's choice. But just like after any great party...time to start cleaning up the mess.
