August 17, Burlingame, CA: Early to rise, exhausted by 4. Talked to a friend of mine who has this AMAZING story that has transpired over the past two weeks. I knew she was an absolute powerhouse, but check this out. Her longtime friend has a son who was slated to begin college this fall. However, the family just didn't have the money to pay for his freshman year. So my friend, in a moment of frustration and sarcasm, posted a Facebook update that said that all her friends could send him to college if we each put in $45. He went away to college this weekend. In less than 3 weeks, she and a couple of her friends used Facebook to raise enough money to send a deserving young man to college. I really cannot even do it justice, but it was one of the most uplifting things I have ever heard. Another friend suggested that we do it every year. What a great idea.
