January 1 (2009!), North Plainfield, NJ: "You can't get lucky all the time, but you can be smart every day." Something I heard a few minutes ago and thought I would want to keep.
I am thankful for another year. I am also thankful to a friend for resurrecting a conversation we began three and a half years ago about what it means to aspire to greatness. After reading what I wrote back then, I can see that my perspective has shifted, but not by much. I can't say enough about the benefits of not working for a while. One of the greatest has been my perspective on the role that work plays (or doesn't play) in driving my overall happiness. I haven't worked since April, but I feel relatively professionally content and productive. A year ago, I wouldn't have thought it was possible.
