August 31, San Mateo, CA: Back to life. A lot of exciting things are happening at work, and plenty of people are working incredibly hard. I think its only a matter of time before the onslaught of work spill onto my desk. Right now, I'm not sure how I would want to handle it. Working 12-16 hour days sounds so unappealing to me (that wasn't always the case), and I don't want to shoot a two-week-long series of shots from my cube. I did wake up at 4:30 am to create a deck for a presentation that I had this morning, but that was an exception. I had forgotten about it. I have really loved (and gotten used to) being able to shut off on weekends and in evenings. Pretty much completely. Photography is my switch. And a great one for me. It keeps me occupied from the moment I leave the office, starting with the podcast I listen to on the drive home to the shooting and processing and reading every night. I still manage to get my (and a couple others') fair share of television, though.
