April 3, Palo Alto, CA: The show was great. The support from my friends was beyond what I had imagined. I loved sharing my photography with them. I am not often speechless, but when my mother walked through the gallery door and surprised me by coming out from Maryland for my first showing, I was shocked. Shocked. I had no idea. I knew she wanted to be there for me last night. She had made it clear that it would mean a lot to her. It meant a lot to me to have her there, especially since she is one of my first and strongest creative influences.
Today was also about my dad, with whom I spoke for the first time since January (or so we calculated). Today is his 60th birthday. I reminded him that I still remembered the day he turned 30. He told me that he feels 38. I didn't want to let him know that I do, too. Happy Birthday, Dad.
