October 1, San Carlos, CA: Damn. My 40D broke last night. I was upset...well, I was pissed. Since I'm not used to sharing my feelings (one point of this journal), this provided a great excuse to bail on the photo journal. But I can't. My camera has been a huge lifeline for me this year. Maybe almost like what a pet represents to some owners. I think this is also a test of my photographer (and general) vanity. I always want to show off only the best stuff. But I think the journaling exercise is more valuable than the perfect image. So, I will be shooting with my 5 year old Canon S50 while Canon sorts out the DSLR. I guess I'm feeling tested. The day started off pretty ugly but is ending in a good place.
